Our Partners

RSNE is steered by four main partners who play an active day-to-day role in the project:

Forestry Commission own many of the designated Red Squirrel Reserves in northern England and administer the Woodland Improvement Grant Scheme which can provide financial support to woodland owners for red squirrel conservation measures.

Red Squirrel Survival Trust is a national charity dedicated to the conservation and protection of the red squirrel in the UK.

Natural England are the lead BAP partner for red squirrels in England.

The Wildlife Trusts employ most of the RSNE staff team on behalf of the other partners and undertake red squirrel conservation activity on many of their nature reserves in northern England.

Representatives of these organisations oversee the work of RSNE, meeting regularly to provide guidance and support to the project team.
